Meet the Wildflowers

The Wildflower Community Choir was created to be so much more than a choir. Weve built a safe, welcoming space where everyone can simply be themselves. A place where we support one another, nurture each other, build confidence, make friendships and most importantly look after one another. Of course, we sing too… and we absolutely love it!

Singing is good for the soul. We truly believe in the power of singing for mental health and wellbeing. 

Some weeks, our Wildflowers arrive at rehearsal tired, with very little energy and perhaps having had a really difficult day. But something happens when we start to sing together. By the end of  rehearsal, there are smiles, laughter and a completely different energy in the room. Our Wildflowers leave feeling lifted, recharged and already looking forward to the next rehearsal. The feeling of belonging, singing, and sharing music together is at the very heart of everything we do. 

Meet Emma, our Musical Director – The Wildflower are led by Musical Director Emma, whose love of music started at a very young age. Emma grew up surrounded by music with a family musical tradition stretching back three generations through the Salvation Army Church. She began singing at around 5 years old and has now been singing for more than 40 years.

Along the way, Emma has played both the piano and flute, sung with several choirs and studied music till she was in her early twenties. After spending a few years away from music, creating The Wildflowers gave Emma the opportunity to return to her musical roots and she hasn’t looked back. 

Emma brings her musical knowledge and experience to every rehearsal, but at the heart of her approach is something much more important:Music should make us feel good and creating somewhere that, for a little while each week, you can leave eveeything else at the door and just sing.
